SB 00123 - Expansion and Economizer ValvesStar Cool bulletin no.: To: From: Date: Regarding: 00123 Star Cool Service Providers and EMR Managers Star Cool Service Department 3rd October 2019 (Updated 29th January 2021) Star Cool Expansion and Economizer Valves NOTE: Superseeded by SB 00143 In January 2017, Star Cool launched R513A optimized systems, which are suitable for both R134a and R513A refrigerants. The new system is fitted with a new type of expansion (Vexp) and economizer (Veco) valve. The old and new type valves are not interchangeable, unless replaced as a pair (Vexp and Veco) and the configuration changed to match, therefore it is important that you have both valve types on stock. We have experienced some confusion regarding which valves should be installed on which system. Below you can see the difference between the two systems. The “old” R134a only system The position of Vexp is vertical with the valve stem/armature pointing outwards and there is no ring on the valve body. Spare part number is 819738D. Veco has one ring on the valve body and the spare part number is 819737D.
