‘‘ ‘‘ ‘‘ The presence and usage of Star Cool CA is increasing in Argentina as it enables reaching further markets through ocean transport with high quality products.” NEWS Integrated Reefer 4th quarter 2020 Controlled Atmosphere in Argentina is here to stay as current volumes from Peru are too high to compete with airfreight costs. Star Cool has good reception in the market and no issues so far.” Global Collaboration From farm to fork We also appreciate the support from Star Cool local experts during a number of presentations and trainings making the customers confident. We are really satisfied and thankful for this support and hope to keep growing in the perishable markets together.” By Søren Leth Johannsen, Chief Commercial Officer Dear Reader, With the end of 2020 rapidly approaching, we have plenty of good news to hopefully give us all some positive momentum as we move into the New Year. From a purely commercial point of view, one major highlight for me has been witnessing MCI break our own 2018 record by producing over 45,000 Star Cool machines this year. Given the extraordinary times we are all experiencing, this is a great result. It also feeds nicely into our first story, which explores the impact that the Star Cool Controlled Atmosphere (CA) system has had on global trade over the last 10+ years. This article explores some of our customers experiences with Star Cool CA and CA+ over the years. Focus on Sekstant and digitalisation Our lead story in this extended edition of Integrated Reefer News is about Sekstant. One major story in this edition covers the development and mission of the Digital Container Shipping Association, or DCSA. This independent, non-profit organisation was founded by 9 of the world’s 10 leading shipping companies to promote and standardise digitisation within the industry. CEO Thomas Bagge provides us with some intriguing insights. There is also a story on Alaska Marine Lines and their intensive live trials of Sekstant. The experiences they have gathered and shared with us have proved invaluable in our continuing development of this cutting-edge connectivity solution. Reallife trials are a core feature of our research and development activities and are also a significant sales driver. Evidence for that comes in the form of a new order for Sekstant from Braun Container Handels GmbH, who had been testing the system with their customers. Service update Finally, we review the latest developments in our Star Cool service offering, including new intuitive training courses and an interactive e-learning module. The expert support we provide in this context ensures that Star Cool users can extract maximum value from their investments. Quite apart from protecting the value of the cargos they transport and thus the profitability of food producers and exporters. Benefiting from experience The celebration of MCI’s 25 years of refrigerated evolution has been a big event in 2020. The introduction of the MCI reefer container paved the way for two and a half decades of transportation of perishable goods across the world in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way than ever before. Besides the introductions of our leading Star Cool CA technology and the addition of CA+, we are today building on our expertise in reefer containers and reefer machines, to offer industry tailored connectivity solutions to the reefer operators. As MCI’s CEO Sean Fitzgerald commented. ‘We are the only marine reefer OEM that designs and manufactures a complete unit. We are also the only OEM that was born from the shipping industry, allowing us to build on over 100 years of experience. We continue to develop our technology and build on this heritage by working closely with our customers to find even better ways to increase our value to customers by improving their cargo care, reducing their costs and achieving their environmental objectives’. For reefers, MCI truly is your one-stop-shop - I hope you enjoy reading this latest issue of Integrated Reefer News.
